Counseling involves the client not only learning more about him/herself, but also gaining new skills. Counseling can provide: improved communication and interpersonal skills, greater self-acceptance and self-esteem, ability to change self-defeating behaviors/habits, and relief from depression, anxiety or other mental health conditions.
